Oar is a lakeside function and event venue at West Lakes Shore, in Adelaide’s western suburbs. In the evenings the whole venue is yours: for a birthday party, an engagement, a Christmas party, a corporate event or a wedding reception, with up to 150 guests standing, or 100 seated inside and 50 outside.

When you hire Oar for a function you have the whole site, so you are our only priority for the night: the dining room, the terrace under the sails, the bar and the view across the lake.
Sit-down and cocktail menus are made from fresh local ingredients, and our chefs will tailor the menu to you. The bar is stocked with boutique wine and beer, with packages built around your favourites. Our event coordinator shapes the evening around your style, down to the last detail.

Engagement parties
Fairy lights under the sails, drinks by the water and the whole venue to yourselves. An engagement party at Oar is relaxed, warm and all about the two of you.
Birthdays and milestones
18ths, 21sts, 30ths, 40ths, 50ths and every birthday after. A cocktail party for up to 150 standing, or a seated dinner for up to 100 inside, with the lake out every window.
Corporate events
Client evenings, team celebrations and work functions, with exclusive use of the venue, a menu planned with our chefs and drinks packages for your group.
Christmas and end-of-year parties
Work and family Christmas parties with the whole venue to yourselves: drinks by the water, a sit-down dinner or cocktail menu from our chefs, and fairy lights under the sails.
Anniversaries and family celebrations
Anniversaries, reunions and family get-togethers, with one event coordinator looking after the night from the first call.

How many guests can Oar hold for a function?
Up to 150 guests standing for a cocktail party. Seated, the dining room takes 100 guests and the deck under the sails another 50. Your event coordinator will plan the layout with you.
Can we have the whole venue to ourselves?
Yes. In the evenings Oar is a private function venue with exclusive use of the whole site, so you and your guests are our only priority for the night.
What kinds of events do you host?
Wedding receptions, engagement parties, birthdays from 18ths and 21sts to 40ths and 50ths, corporate events and Christmas parties, anniversaries and family celebrations. If you are planning something else, tell us about it.
What food and drinks can you offer?
Drinks packages from $35 per person, cocktail canapé packages from $35, a two-course sit-down dinner at $65 and buffet feasts from $70, plus dessert boards. See every option on our function packages page.
Is there a minimum spend?
Yes: $3,000 from Monday to Thursday, $4,500 on Fridays and $5,500 on Saturdays and Sundays.
What time do functions finish?
On Fridays and Saturdays, last drinks and music off are at 11pm, with guests away by 11:30pm. From Sunday to Thursday it is 10pm, with guests away by 10:30pm.
Where is Oar, and is there parking?
Oar is at 100 Military Road, West Lakes Shore, on the lake at the front of the Rowing SA complex. There are car parks in the complex right out the front, parking on Military Road and two large car parks on either side of it, and you can park in Annie Watt Circuit and walk down the path.
Can we book Oar for a Christmas party?
Yes. Oar hosts work and family Christmas and end-of-year parties in the evenings, with exclusive use of the venue, a sit-down or cocktail menu from our chefs and drinks packages for your group.
